Hello,
I am Tim Lepard and I am 44 yrs. old. I was born in 1962 in Memphis, TN and
hang my hat at home on the outskirts of Tupelo, MS. I guess
that is why I feel I have a bit of Elvis in my soul. I have been
involved with rodeo for 28 yrs and began my career riding bulls
which evolved into bullfighting. In 1988 I won the title of
Mesquite Champion Bullfighter. While fighting bulls at
Mesquite, mentor, Jimmy Anderson told me "You can go to a rodeo and
find twenty macho guys that think they're bullfighters, but you're
only going to find one funny man and that's you". Fellow
bullrider Lane Frost was also at Mesquite and asked me if I
had ever thought about fighting bulls and clowning for a living.
It meant something to me for a Champion like Lane Frost to
see my potential and so I seriously began rodeoing and made rodeo my
career.
After nine major surgeries encountered while fighting bulls, I began
to put together the dog and monkey act and concentrated on comedy.
I wanted an act that no one would forget in rodeo and felt
performing with three dogs and three monkeys would accomplish my
goal. Working with and training animals involves a lot of hard work.
Traveling across the United States with animals requires even more
dedication and responsibility. The animals are like family and
require 24/7 care to ensure their wellbeing. When I see the
crowd smiling and hear the laughter, it makes all the hard work
worthwhile.
I use the Red, White, and Blue theme throughout my acts in
dedication to my brother and my country. My brother was the one who
first got me interested in rodeo. He was a Green Beret
and told me "Whatever I do in life, do it for my country". So, I
have carried that thought with me throughout my life.
My
accomplishments include the (IFR) International Finals Rodeo,
3 Time Winner for
"Comedy Act of the Year", 3 Time Winner for "Dress Act of the
Year", and 1 Time Winner for "Barrel man of the Year".
I am the only showman that has performed in all 3 coliseums in
Oklahoma City at the IFR and the only person to win all 3 awards in
the same year. In the IFR Showcase, I won "Comedy & Dress
Act" a total of 6 times. I have participated in the
Columbus Ohio Pet Expo and have
been featured on America's
Funniest Home Videos, FHM Magazine, Sports Illustrated
and had a scheduled appearance on the Jay Leno Show and
Steve Harvey's "Big Show". I also served on the Board of
Directors of the Mississippi Stock Dog Association. Out of all my
accomplishments, my most rewarding by far was participating in the
Make a Wish Foundation. Nothing can compare to making a little
girl's wish come true. It hits you in the heart when a child
can wish for anything and she wishes to meet you and your animals.
It was my pleasure to grant her wish and also present her with my
2002 Dress Act of the Year buckle. That experience left me with a
feeling I will never forget.
I
strongly believe in the
"Tough Enough to Wear Pink"
Campaign that the PRCA
has become involved in over the last year. Breast Cancer is a
disease that affects many of our families, friends, and fans and we
need to do what we can to help find a cure. Participating in the
"Tough Enough to Wear Pink" Campaign is the perfect way to benefit
the local chapters of Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation
for research, raise awareness and show my support for the cause. I
encourage everyone to get involved. No contribution is too small and
every bit helps. Together we can make a difference. "Tough Enough
to Wear Pink" day is always a special day at the rodeo, so that
is why at the Ellensburg WA rodeo I chose to do something I had
never done before. I performed with four dogs and
four monkeys for the first time ever and we were all
sporting "Pink" in support of the Tough Enough Campaign.
I have been a
member of the PRCA, Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association
since 2004 and loving every minute of it. Even though I have
only been a member for 3 short years, I have set my goals high for
the PRCA and I am working hard to make them come true by
traveling the United States and doing what
I
love to do best. . . ENTERTAIN!
Hope to see and meet you on the trail.
Thanks,
Tim "WILD THANG" Lepard |
